WHAT IS LEAN?

Lean is best described as a business system based upon a tried-and-true approach to maximizing organizational performance. Lean is a philosophy, a management system, and an operating system.

Lean Philosophy

  • Lean is a customer-centric approach to understanding the processes and maximizing the effectiveness of the value delivery system.

  • Lean is the relentless pursuit to identify and eliminate all forms of waste.

  • Lean is respect for people. Lean organizations aggressively develop and engage all employees in process simplification and improvement. Involving all levels of the organization in the improvement process results in fewer defects, improved morale and process simplification.

Lean Management System

  • The Lean Management System develops “thinking problem solvers” who relentlessly challenge the status quo.

  • Lean is comprised of metrics which support the effective performance of the Lean Operating System.

  • Lean Management is a culture which is never complacent with “good enough.”

Lean Operating System

  • A Lean Operating System is comprised of processes designed to maximize overall performance across the silos of the organization.

A true lean transformation requires engagement and understanding across the organization including leadership, middle management, and front-line workers.
Business Networking Event
“Pall Medical’s success in implementing lean was rooted in how Mike engaged us, from senior leadership to the shop floor. He was effective at a strategic level (in helping us define a plan) as well as at a tactical level (in facilitating our actual transformation) as he led us from conveyor assembly lines to cell-based work flow. Mike’s practical approach focused on adapting the lean philosophy and tools to our unique environment.”
